About Dondero Diamonds & Fine Jewelry
Dondero’s Jewelry began with a single vision from Charles J. Dondero in 1948. Originally set up in his home on North Delsea Drive as a part-time venture alongside his glassblowing career, Charles’s passion for jewelry soon captivated the local community. His commitment to integrity and quality laid the foundational values of Dondero’s Jewelry, which quickly became a beloved establishment in South Jersey, treasured for its fine jewelry and trusted service.
The legacy of Charles J. Dondero was robustly carried forward by his son “Bud” Dondero, his wife Betty, and brother-in-law Bennie Bruun after Charles’s untimely passing in 1959. Relocating to Arbor Avenue, the trio infused the business with a familial spirit and relentless dedication, propelling it to new heights. This growth continued under Bud’s son, Ken, who officially took over in 1979, transitioning the shop to a full-time operation. With the addition of family members and close friends, the business blossomed into a true family affair, deeply rooted in community and craftsmanship.
In 1991, Dondero’s Jewelry moved to its current location at 2439 North Delsea Drive, significantly expanding its reach and capabilities. This new chapter allowed for an increased offering in high-quality jewelry and custom pieces, continually adapting to the evolving desires of our customers. Despite the loss of Bud, the store’s patriarch, his ethos remains a guiding force. Today, Dondero’s Jewelry stands as a testament to nearly three-quarters of a century of dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to both the craft and customers, ensuring that each piece of jewelry holds not just monetary but sentimental value.
